Dinner and a movie

Posted on May 5th, 2008 in Blogging, Married Life by abdallah

Strange how it goes after one’s been married for a while. Not a long time, just a while…

Before we were married we would spend lots of time out and about, visiting every single restaurant one could think of (from AL Zouhour in Bourj Hammoud to L’Entrecote de Paris). And we would see a movie almost every week!

Nowadays, we do the same… But mostly at home! We eat better, that’s true. And we get to better select what to watch. Instead of L’Entrecote, Paypouy makes a killer steak with her own special sauce that is simply superior to anything I have ever tasted before (see the Blue Cheese Steak Sauce on scrum2.us - coming soon).

But it doesn’t have to be that fancy! Today we had a quick pancake for dinner, it was delicious. But even more delicious is that I spend the entire evening close to my wife.

We saw “Iron Man” this week. It was good. But I most liked about it that we both enjoyed it :)

The tube is showing “Bourne Identity” now, so I’m going back to suggle next to Paypouy and spend the rest of the evening trying to prevent her from watching it (6)

Me and The Boss (formerly known as Ta2′oush)

The Boss, our cat, aka ta2′oush / minet / inta ya / etc… likes to cuddle in my lap as soon as I start working!

Here’s a pic Paypouy took earlier :)

A Happy Man

Posted on August 4th, 2007 in Married Life, Mood by abdallah

There’s a saying that the “shortest route to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. I can affirm that saying is true.

I’ve been married for a week and a day now, and I am a very happy man. Now, it’s true that food isn’t everything in life, and that love and understanding are very important for a couple to be happy, not to mention the need for spiritual routine and a good reliance on God’s help to keep the family happy… I’m ok with all that. But, I AM ESPECIALLY HAPPY because my beautiful wife has just discovered she could cook!
And when I say she could cook, I mean she really could cook.

So far, we’ve had some great dishes made by the soon to be world famous chef Paypouy Deeb. She started out with a great “Spaghetti and Frankfurters”, her own recipe! Wow, was the keyword on that one. “Potatoes and Chicken” in the oven was next, and it was great. She made one beautifully smelling Spaghetti (with an original tomato and basil sauce). And yesterday, I was surprised with an un-traditional Kebbeh Nayyieh - a veggy kebbeh nayyeh with potatoes instead of the meat. If it wasn’t yellow I could swear I was eating the traditional one, all was needed was some Arak and a chilled onion to make it complete…

Now, if you were a man, wouldn’t you be happy? I sure am :)

Paypouy just added a couple of pics of her cake creations during the last week. Did I mention she made some peach jam too?!!

Golden Cage!

“And now, by the authority given to me by the … i pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride”

That’s how the ceremony ended, it was held by a very ‘cool’ (wazwaz) marriage comissioner, Elvis Prestley look-alike!!
It seemed that he was in a rush or had a date…. the whole thing took him only 5 minutes :S barely
We were relaxed, a bit emotional… but what triggered the thing was the USHER!!! :S euhh he was IN TEARS.. Literally…
He was nodding his head, looking at us… I confused him with my mom (who was standing next to him)… Inno are we related???
It was really weird, but fun.
The brother who took care of us here is a very nice person, a special character (oooooooooooops) yeah, Pablo, Pablos or Paulo… you can call him all that… He stayed with us almost all day and even invited us for lunch with his family. Who were all very nice as well.

We’re at “The Brewery” and will be heading … home? soon

D-Day!

Tired

Posted on May 10th, 2007 in Married Life, Mood by abdallah

It’s been a while since I wrote anything on this blog. Things have been a bit hektik lately with all the stuff we’ve been buying for the house. Decisions about many many things I didn’t even know existed are taking a lot of time.

Meanwhile, Ogero Lebanon is offering DSL for the first time. We should get a connection at home (parent’s home) soon. It’ll be a 128/32Kbps (2G monthly limit) for 23USD/month. Hopefully, the prices will drop for the private ISPs, but I’m not really counting on it.

Paypouy bought me a bicycle as a present :) but we haven’t gone biking yet :(

My allergies are acting up. I’m very tired.

Basterma Dinner

Posted on April 23rd, 2007 in Married Life by abdallah

Basterma 101 We cleaned up the house on Saturday, and many helped: Mom, Dad, Paypouy’s Mom, Sam, Jina and Mohammad G.

Mohammad was in for a shock when he saw the place. He obviously had expected it to be smaller :) But, he has my thanks for the great effort he spent with us.

I was there in the afternoon to finish up with them. Dad brought us food (La7m b3ajine), and plenty of other stuff. My mother in law brought us coffee :)

Anyhow, the pic here is from Friday night. Paypouy and I brought in the stuff needed for the cleaning. Barkoosh took some pics while we were having a quick dinner party (basterma sandwitches!)

Huston, We have a House!

Yeah yeah, we do!
It’s in Zouk Mosbeh, Jesus The King inside road. It’s a nice and cosy little place (120+m2) with a small balcony facing the sea. I think I can get a google map for the place …
Umm, will post more info and pics hopefully later

Weekend Blues, and Greens, and other colors…

Posted on February 12th, 2007 in Married Life, Mood by abdallah

Umm, Weekends are swishing by just like that.
This Friday was weee…
Then on Saturday, afternoon, we had a quick Bayd-b’Awarma. Then went for a walk with the parents in Burj Hammoud. It was, well, too long! I’m getting old, I can’t even walk for 4 hours straight anymore
But, we topped it with a wonderful dinner with Mat :D Guess where?! Yep, none else than the Pasta di Casa, italian resto.
We had: Gnocchi Pesto (Paypouy), Carbonara Ham (Mat), Caneloni (Me).
And it went on till about 12+
On Sunday, we were invited to the Aboud’s place. Nice family, coming from Liberia, Africa. So we had a very nice African meal: Chicken with Peanut Butter. It was a nice afternoon. And after some “rest”, I went with Barkoosh to find Paypouy again and went for a nice dinner at Bread & Brown in Jounieh.
Paypouy’s been on my case about the difference between Jounieh, Zouk and Kaslik. As it turns out, these are actually different areas in Keserwan, go figure. Oh, and there are 2 Zouks (as it turns out, they are 3 in fact!) I won’t go into it any more… Paypouy will soon, with Graphics and Maps from Google (Heh, Yeah Right!) :P
